Sandra Bullock Sells 2 Homes on Georgia’s Tybee Island for a Combined $4,175,000
The actress Sandra Bullock has sold two beach houses on Georgia’s Tybee Island.
The combined purchase price of the properties totaled $4,175,000. Rachel Umbreit and Ruthie Lynah-Whitlow of Celia Dunn Sotheby’s International Realty represented the seller.
She purchased the island compound in 2001, for just under $1.5 million. Her investment had already paid off. The property was available as a vacation rental for as much as $1,400 a night, before she decided to part with the place.
In 2019, she listed the main house for a jaw-dropping $6.5 million, but wasn’t able to coax a buyer to bite.
She then dropped the price to $6.1 million, before slashing the ask, by about half, to $3.3 million a year ago. The drastic price reduction finally attracted a buyer, and the sale closed this month for $3,125,000.
Even with the dramatic discount of the original asking price, the final sale was the highest sale price ever recorded in the city of Tybee Island, according to the Savannah MLS.
More real estate transactions followed. The actress also sold an adjoining, smaller guesthouse to a separate buyer for $1.05 million.
Each set of buyers purchased the homes fully furnished, minus a few personal items, realtor.com® has learned.
Tucked away on 1.6 acres, the larger, main house is privately fenced, with a pool and plenty of room for get-togethers.
With 3,360 square feet, four bedrooms, and 2.5 bathrooms, the space offers screened porches, a rec room, and quick access to the beach.
Cathedral ceilings hover above the living room, dining room, and kitchen, which flow together, for easy entertaining.
The gourmet kitchen is equipped with Viking and Sub-Zero stainless-steel appliances, a wine chiller, and a large butler’s pantry.
The master suite, which is on the main level, has a separate shower and clawfoot soaking tub, a wall of closets, and a private, screened-in porch.

Upstairs are three more bedrooms, a full bathroom, a “pajama lounge,” and another screened-in porch with ocean views. The ground level contains the rec room, home gym, lots of storage, and garage parking.
Outside is a half-size basketball court, numerous sitting areas, and a pool. The property also features gated access to a secluded beach on the Atlantic Ocean, and is just a quick drive away from historic downtown Savannah. Teresa Jackson of Coldwell Banker Access Realty repped the buyer.
The separate guesthouse, which sold at the end of December, is decorated in a similar Coastal style, with beachy decor. The charming abode features three bedrooms and three bathrooms, on just over 2,800 square feet.
The listing suggests that the place can be enjoyed by the owners year-round, or turned into a “profitable turn-key investment property.”
The floor plan features an open living area, with French doors leading to a balcony. Bedroom suites are on both the main level and upstairs. The master suite upstairs runs across the back of the house, with a private balcony and ocean views, as well as stairs to a crow’s nest.
The ground level features a game room that opens to a patio. A drive-under garage can store kayaks and beach gear, and a shared walkway leads to the beach.
Sharon Brookshire with Redfin Corporation represented the buyer.
Bullock, 56, is said to have a net worth of $200 million, and has reportedly owned a slew of luxury properties, including homes in Austin, TX, a $16.2 million estate in Beverly Hills, a SoHo townhouse in Manhattan, a Victorian in New Orleans, and a cabin in Jackson Hole, WY.
Her blockbuster movies include “Speed,” “Gravity,” and the Netflix hit “Bird Box.”
